About us
Make a difference for customers and partners worldwide in an international, diverse environment.  At the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC) in Maastricht, you play a key role in supporting customers and partners worldwide while representing one of the world’s most respected brands. Years of experience and our strong focus on customer centricity have given us the expertise to steer and develop global Customer Contact Centers (CCC) around the world. We belong to the Mercedes-Benz Global Customer Service & Parts division and we work closely with other departments and divisions to deliver the best customer journey possible.  With an international team of over 1,000 colleagues, our mission is to provide an exceptional experience for our customers, as well as supporting retail and logistics organizations.
About the team
We are looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Specialist to design, build, and operate the Lakehouse & BI platform that powers our global CRM Ecosystem. As our Business Intelligence Specialist, you will be the technical subject-matter expert behind our Lakehouse, ELT pipelines, semantic models, and self-service BI—turning raw, distributed data into reliable, high-quality, analytics-ready products that drive measurable business impact. This is a hands-on, engineering-first role. If you build robust pipelines, model data for scale, design compelling BI front-ends, and care deeply about data quality, CI/CD discipline, and secure-by-design architecture, you'll thrive as our Business Intelligence Specialist. Join the Global Customer Care Performance team as our Business Intelligence Specialist, at the heart of Mercedes-Benz's global CRM Ecosystem. You'll work on a mission-critical Lakehouse platform, design AI-driven semantic models with Databricks Genie, and see your work directly improve business performance—backed by a globally recognized brand. Ready to shape AI-powered BI as our next Business Intelligence Specialist? Apply now.
These will be your tasks and responsibilities:
  • Data pipelines: Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable data-loading and data-export programs (batch and near-real-time) feeding the enterprise Lakehouse.
  • ELT engineering: Build and optimize transformation workflows on Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows, DLT), ensuring performance, reliability, and reusability.
  • Semantic modeling: Design and maintain governed semantic models in Databricks and Power BI that provide a trusted, business-friendly layer for analytics and AI.
  • BI front-end delivery: Build rich, interactive front-end experiences across Databricks and Power BI, including:
    • Databricks AI/BI Dashboards and interactive visualizations directly on the lakehouse
    • Power BI reports, dashboards, and paginated reports with strong UX, DAX modeling, and Row-Level Security
    • Optimized DirectQuery / Import connectivity between Databricks and Power BI for performant, governed self-service analytics
  • AI & agentic analytics: Leverage Databricks Genie to deliver a conversational, agentic experience over the semantic model—enabling natural-language querying, self-service insights, and AI-assisted exploration grounded in governed, high-quality data.
  • Data modeling: Design and evolve relational and dimensional data models (star/snowflake) on Oracle and cloud platforms (Databricks, PostgreSQL), balancing query performance with maintainability.
  • Platform operations: Ensure availability, monitoring, and continuity of the Lakehouse & BI services; analyze the impact of upgrades/changes and drive their safe implementation.
  • CI/CD & version control: Apply engineering best practices with Git-based CI/CD, code reviews, automated testing, and reproducible deployments.
  • Data integration: Integrate data across CRM systems (Salesforce), middleware (Azure), and secure file-transfer tooling (Axway).
  • Data governance & quality: Implement and maintain data models, lineage, and metadata using OpenMetadata; embed data-quality monitoring, stewardship, and GDPR compliance into the pipeline lifecycle.
  • Deliver features and user stories in a SAFe Agile setup, meeting quality, timeline, and budget targets.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including L2 colleagues at MBRDI, using Jira and Confluence.
  • Apply an analytical and design-thinking mindset; work independently, prioritize, and perform under pressure (deadlines, major incidents).
  • Champion documentation and knowledge sharing to become the recognized internal expert in your specialism.

This is what we are looking for:
  • University degree or Higher Vocational Education (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong communication skills; English is our corporate language.
  • 4–6+ years of professional Lakehouse & BI experience.
  • Strong experience with relational & dimensional databases — Oracle and/or cloud platforms (Databricks, PostgreSQL).
  • Proven hands-on delivery with Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows).
  • Strong Power BI (DAX, data modeling, RLS, dashboards) and Databricks AI/BI Dashboards.
  • Semantic model design and Databricks Genie for agentic, natural-language analytics.
  • Solid Git workflow and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience with enterprise transfer tooling such as Axway.
  • Dimensional modeling, Lakehouse design, and metadata tooling (OpenMetadata).
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Data integration into CRM (Salesforce) or Azure middleware.
  • Cloud & analytics products: Power BI, Databricks, Salesforce, Genesys Cloud.
  • GDPR, data stewardship, and data-quality monitoring.
  • Contact center, automotive, or customer-service industry background.
